Whether it’s from the echoing stage of New York City’s Carnegie Hall or a quiet corner at home seeking inspiration in the drifting scent of fresh-brewed coffee, Paul’s journey in making and sharing his creative work (primarily as the indie-acoustic artist known as Canyon City) has taken many shapes to fill the ever-evolving container of life.

From a young age Paul has been immersed in the craft of songwriting, and for over two decades he built a storied career as an independent musical artist. Over the years, however, he found it increasingly difficult to connect to the passion that first drew him to a creative profession. For Paul, the obligations of making marketable art started to overshadow the joy and inspiration of creating for the purposes of self-discovery, expression, and social connection. It was in part a desire to return to that original joy that motivated him to leave the music industry and pursue new paths in life. By way of studying at Linnaeus University, Paul and his family found a new home in Växjö where, combined with his partner Brooke’s crafting experience and keen eye for design, the two dreamed up Everyone an Artist: a space where anyone is free to create for themselves, each other, and free of any pressure or expectation.

As a self-declared reborn hobbyist, he continues to create, but re-centered on the self-care and social expression component of artistry. At Everyone an Artist, when he’s not behind the scenes you might find him behind the espresso machine refining his latte art. In addition to keeping the caffeine buzz alive, he’s developing a songwriting-for-self-care workshop that he hopes to offer at the studio soon.
